Frequently Asked Questions

As a person-centred counsellor I believe everyone has the potential to change and grow, given the right conditions in which to do so.

I am a Humanistic Counsellor who has good understanding of the underpinning theories alongside a naturally empathic persona. My personal philosophy is to develop a strong working alliance. Providing a caring, confidential and safe environment where clients can address uncomfortable, painful or traumatic experiences, with a view to facilitating clarity and understanding of a situation, which gives insight to where change is possible.

I charge £55 per 50 minute session but do try, where possible, to reduce this accordingly for those on a low income. We can discuss this during the first session which is free of charge and usually takes around 30 minutes.

Weekdays, evenings and weekends

If you are able to give me 24 hours notice there will be no charge. Of course sometimes things happen out of our control and I understand that. Counselling is a contract between yourself and me and for it to be successful you will need to be committed to attending regularly.

We meet for a 50 minute session, usually once a week initially but this can be negotiated if it is difficult for you. The counselling I offer is open-ended. The amount of sessions are entirely determined by you but research shows that it is usually after 6-8 sessions that clients begin to feel some change taking place. Some clients may wish to reduce their sessions at this stage whereas others may want more.

Unfortunately I don’t offer telephone counselling or online sessions.
